2 out of 5 stars Good Machine, Broke after 1.5 years   January 8, 2009
Bakes good bread but broke after using for a year and a half. I've used it no more than 60 times during that timeframe.

2 out of 5 stars bread machine with problems   January 8, 2009
Sunbeam 5891 2-Pound Programmable BreadmakerThis breadmaker arrived with a broken lid. At first I thought it was up to me to attach it. After several of us tried to attach it with no success, I called Sunbeam. The customer service lady was very helpful. "The lid is broken. You should have called us right away. We'll send you another bread machine, brand new. Keep this broken machine; we don't want it." (Sunbeam sent me an OSTER bread machine that is exactly like my old Sunbeam with a few newer features.)

So now I have two bread machines that work. The first one I received is waiting for the Salvation Army.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Breadmaker for not alot of Dough!   January 7, 2009

I read many pages of reviews before deciding what breadmaker to buy. I have to say the the positives paired with the price won me over. I figured that if I'm unsuccessful I could always return it. What a pleasant surprise...I can make a great loaf of bread. I did take the time to buy the suggested Betty Crocker Bread Machine Cookbook. I love that too! However, I must say that I made a few successful loaves from the recipe manual. I did like the flavor or the recipes in the Betty Crocker Book better, they use less yeast. I am having a wonderful time making great tasting bread and don't miss the cardboard variety sold at the store for $4.00. I make mine for less than a dollar. In today's economy every dollar saved counts. If your concerned about whether you'll be able to make bread with this machine you can stop worrying. Be sure to follow the directions and measure every item carefully. You too can be enjoying fresh warm bread daily and save on room freshener too. The house smells great. A great deal for $50 at Walmart. I'd recommend the Sunbeam 5891 to everyone.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent gift   January 3, 2009
I was given this bread machine as a birthday gift a few months ago and so far, no complaints!! The machine is used consistently (once a week) and performance has always been perfect when following the recipes included with the bread maker. Our favorite is the "sandwich" loaf. Non-sunbeam recipes have turned out well too, especially pizza dough. I would recommend this machine, it was the best birthday gift!

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, I guess.   December 30, 2008
I have used the Sunbeam 5891 several times and am somewhat satisfied with it. It's kinda noisy and vibrates much more than I like, but the bread comes out well. The crust is a little crispy at first, even on the light setting, but softens over a little time (usually the next day) which is how I like my crust.
Not my first choice in a bread machine, but for the price, I consider it a fair bargain.
