Good stuff September 1, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'd rather fend off the bugs than come down with West Nile virus.
We used this product on a recent camping trip and found it to be safe and effective.
With Off you can camp out, without a net encasing your entire camp site, and without mosquito netting hats.
Go camping, and put on some Off. Enjoy the woods and the open air.
Gets rid of the fleas May 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this mainly for fleas because i have a lot of pets and even though there have there collars you still get a few fleas around the house the first day of using off the flea bits were less and less and now i spray myself just to be on the safe side but i have no more flea bits. WONDERFUL
works, but has an unpleasant smell September 14, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
i bought this insect repellent to take with me to Palestine, where mosquito bites are a fact of life. this product has a distinct odor that is unbearable. this product works, however, i used this product twise and then i simply perfered the maddining mosquitoes to the smell of the repellent.
Peace and Love but Bugs are Bugs August 21, 2006 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Okay, here's the thing. I'm all about organic and natural is good and all that, but use a little judgment and think critically. Knee-jerk reactions to DEET because it sounds so synthetic and toxic are not necessary. It's been tested. It's safe for your kids, even as young as 6 months old. It's not good to get it into the eyes and mouth, so do what makes sense, don't spray the fingers of a pre-schooler, but use it on the arms and legs, a light spray. It doesn't have to be a high concentration of DEET. From what I've read, I don't think you gain much in efficacy at 50% over 20%.
I don't go out of my way to have chemicals around me. But what do people think is in those citronella candles? Somehow that's seen as benign, and who knows what chemicals get liberated as that smoke fills your little picnic. Anyway, watch those bugs fly right through the plume of smoke on those candles and try and convince yourself that they are effective.
DEET is not natural. Mosquitoes are all natural. Eastern equine encephalitis is an all natural virus, not man-made, not manufactured in some cold, sterile lab.
Malaria. All natural. Arsenic is natural too, completely organic.
I once knew a guy with head lice who wouldn't cut his dreads because his dreads represented something very important to him. Nice guy too, I wanted to sympathize, but I thought a little misguided. Another buddy of mine, in admonition, adlibbed: "Dude! Peace and love, but bugs are bugs." Hearty laughs all around. Guess you had to be there. But that line has stayed with me.
Strive towards organic solutions, but do what makes sense. Be smart, be safe, protect your kids.
