I tried regular support hose but they would pull and hurt my toes so I went with the footless ones. The only thing I don't like is that they can be tight around the ankle. I am 5'5 and 125 lbs and I couldn't imagine trying to fit in anything less than an XL! They are very indestructable- nothing like nylons that run if you think of touching them with a finger nail! I am not careful putting them on and I have yet to run a pair except for not being careful about laundry ( I think they got snagged on a zipper).
