The Better Bottle with Big Bite Valve makes it easy to hydrate on the go. | What is BPA? Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate. In recent months, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottle that is not made with Bisphenol-A (BPA), and CamelBak is proud to introduce BPA-free bottles with the same great properties customers have come to expect from polycarbonate: vibrant color, clarity, durability, dishwasher-safe, and with no residual taste. As of the end of April 2008, the entire CamelBak bottle line will be available in BPA-Free materials in North America. What are phthalates? Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are a component added to some plastics to make them soft and pliable. None of CamelBak's bottles have ever contained phthalates. What is the BPA-free Better Bottle made from? The CamelBak Better Bottle line is made from a new copolyester polymer called Tritan, made by Eastman. It offers the same great qualities that we have come to expect from polycarbonate bottles and is 100 percent BPA-Free. The Big Bite Valve is made of medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance. About CamelBak CamelBak is the originator and world leader in hands-free hydration systems. The first CamelBak products proved to be very popular among mountain bikers and motocross riders, because it allowed them to drink without taking their hands off of the handlebars in technical terrain. The product began to cross over into other sports when scientific studies showed athletes drank more fluids and performed better when they wore a CamelBak. Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits. In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. CamelBak's state-of-the-art packs and hydration systems have benefited athletes, outdoorsmen, and soldiers around the world. While CamelBak has grown tremendously since the early days, one thing hasn't changed: CamelBak still believes in the performance advantage that proper hydration delivers for just about any activity. The privately-held company is headquartered in Petaluma, California.

Nice bottle, but not perfect January 8, 2009 I decided on this water bottle after reading all the great reviews. I just wanted to add a few of my observations. First, I ordered the color called Ice and thought I should point out that it looks nothing like the picture. It is actually a light periwinkle color...which is fine but not exactly what I was going for. To me I thought it looked like a frosty beige in the picture. I do like having the straw in it and find that I do drink more water and like not having to tip the bottle up when sitting in a meeting. Unfortunately after years of tipping up a water bottle, I occasionally forget and it makes a loud slurping noise since the straw is then out of the water. Luckily my workplace is informal. The bite valve is a little weird but I'm getting used to it. So many people pointed out that it is leak-proof but I have found that water remains in the bite valve so if it tips over so that it compresses the tip, whatever is in that plastic tip will spray out. It is just a little bit so I would definitely call it no-spill, but not 100% leak-proof. The lid is nice and tight though so no water leaks out around that part which is great. I would prefer that the bottle be more ergonomic. It is too wide to carry in my hand comfortably, but at least it comes with a loop so you can carry it like that instead.
I bought this bottle for my 8 month old daughter! January 8, 2009 Once my daughter started crawling and grabbing everything she could get her hands on, she would particularly grab for my camelbak better bottle. We then noticed that she knew how to drink out of it. So over the summer I would bring my bottle everywhere and she could get a few sips of water while we were out. I eventually decided to buy one for her. So I bought the .5 bottle for her in berry. I fill it up each day with the amount of water recommended for her age and leave it with her toys. Throughout the day she will go for sips. It is just the right size for her to hold (could be a little smaller). We love it. Now that she is 10months and teething she also loves biting on the bite valve as a teether. Who knew!?
CamelBak Water Bottle Exceeds expectations January 7, 2009 I've only been using the CamelBak Better Water bottle for a couple weeks now but so far so good even though water bottles left in my truck overnight freeze solid. A few drops have escaped and frozen in the truck but if I leave some space in the top and make sure they're upright there is no leakage and no cracking. I attach a caribiner to the loop on top and I can take water anywhere. Bite valve "rubbery" smell and taste disappeared quickly.
excellent drinking bottle January 6, 2009 The portability of this bottle is fantastic- I love just being able to grab it from anywhere by the grey loop-mostly from the floor next to my bed-its my night water drink bottle. While not having to tilt it upwards to get a drink took some getting used to, the soft blue tip that you sip the water through certainly made up for that. I've already bought another!
Spills Water January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not very happy with this product. I fill it with water and ice, then close. I then reopen , say 5 minutes later, and water always splashes all over me. Not a very good product. Also, does not fit in any of my car cup holders.
