Amazon.com Product Description A safe, stylish alternative to plastic water bottles, Sigg water bottles are a great choice for transporting beverages on your daily commute or while backcountry hiking. This ultra-lightweight bottle is extruded from a single piece of aluminum and holds 1 liter of fluid (33.8 ounces). Designed to fit your on-the-go lifestyle, it comes with a loop top bottle cap, which can be secured via hook or caribiner clip to a backpack or daypack. Sigg bottles are virtually unbreakable and are constructed with no seams, ensuring a long-lasting, leak-proof performance. They also feature Sigg's proprietary baked-on inner liner, which is made from a non-toxic, water-based epoxy resin that exceeds FDA requirements for leaching (0.0 percent) and is independently tested to be taste- and scent-neutral. Every Sigg bottle is 100 percent recyclable at the end of its life, and is backed by a lifetime warranty. About Sigg It all started with a simple hiker's bottle. Today, the SIGG bottle has acquired cult status. What happened is a success story that started in Biel, Switzerland in 1908. Küng, Sigg & Cie. manufactured leisure goods, kitchenware, and electrical appliances. The company relocated to Frauenfeld in 1916, where it helped pioneer the legendary tradition of Swiss quality. Since 1998, SIGG has concentrated on its core business: drinking bottles that deliver ultimate customer benefit. Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Can Sigg bottles be used for boiling water? A: No. Strong heat can damage the outer coating. Q: Can dents in the bottle damage the Sigg bottle's inner coating? A: No, the Sigg inner coating is highly elastic. Dents cannot crack or chip the internal lining and the Sigg bottle remains perfectly usable. Q: Can I use my Sigg bottle for carbonated drinks? A: Yes, all Sigg bottle tops provide a 100 percent seal and will not leak. It's recommended that you fill the bottle no further than 1/2-inch below the lip. And before taking a drink, relieve the pressure inside the bottle by gently rotating the entire top. Q: Are Sigg bottles dishwasher safe? A: Yes, but because of the narrow mouth of the bottle, hand washing is recommended. Q: Can a Sigg bottle be placed in the freezer A: No, as this may cause the bottle to crack. However, the bottle can be chilled in the refrigerator.

Good bottle, good size...quite pleased January 4, 2009 I love it. I have both a 0.6 liter bottle and a 1.0 liter bottle. The 1.0 liter bottle was larger than I expected (the 0.6 liter is the closest in size to a regular plastic bottle of water you'd buy from a vending machine). However, I like the 1.0 liter size to take to meetings or on trips because I find that I often drink more than the 0.6 liter bottle will hold. I also take the 1.0 liter bottle with me often because I can share with my husband and only carry one bottle. However, the 1.0 liter bottle is too large to fit into some cup holders, such as the one built into my camping chair.
I've had my sigg bottles for about a year, and they haven't dented on me. I'm not super fastidious about the bottles, but I'm not very hard on them either. I use them mainly in the car and at meetings, so they aren't being tossed around too much.
I rinsed the bottles several times before using them, but they still had a taste the first few times I used them. They cleared up after a few uses though, and I don't notice any taste from them now. I've been quite pleased. They did well on the airplanes, and they handled the air pressure changes just fine. If you travel, the 0.6 liter is easier to fill from a drinking fountain than the 1.0 liter.
I haven't had any issues with drinking straight from the bottle, and my lips don't touch the threads. I also haven't had any issue with holding onto the bottle when it's cold, and you can always hang onto it by the loop if you don't want to touch the sides for some reason.
I've heard other people say their bottles develop a smell over time, but that hasn't happened with our bottles. We only use them for water though, so maybe that's a difference. I've been very pleased with the sigg bottles, and I would definitely buy them again.
Simplicity gets the job done December 14, 2008 I got just what I wanted. A high quality aluminum bottle at a good price. You have to expect to spend a little bit of money on a piece of metal, but I think that the craftsmanship behind these Sigg bottles warrants the price.
I don't think I can add anything new to the reviews except to say that this was everything I wanted it to be, so I'm definitely not surprised or disappointed. The silver finish seems tough, and I'm glad that this bottle isn't too slick to hold on to. Even when I fill it full of refrigerator chilled water it never sweats or tries to slide away from me. It's able to stand on it's own, and unlike a partially filled plastic water bottle, this Sigg doesn't go falling to the ground if whatever it's sitting on gets rattled a little bit.
Item fine, packaging poor December 10, 2008 I need not add to the discussion of the bottle itself as it is well represented. I am glad to have it and be moving on from plastic. My contribution is with regards to how I received the two Sigg bottles I purchased. They were just placed in the box without any protective wrap or the like. All of the air pillows had been intentionally deflated (big deliberate holes) and they were clanging around in the box which had been shipped from IN to NC. I am very disappointed by the seemingly disrespectful way my purchase was shipped. For a $25 bottle, I would at the very least expect that the items would be properly prepped for their trip through the mail system. Just because the bottles are made of metal does not mean they cannot get damaged or get dirty, all sorts of bits clinging to them, in transit. I would choose in the future to not order them again.
Warning enamel does chip off inside December 10, 2008 I've owned 3 Sigg bottles for over a year now. I have followed the instructions and I don't freeze my bottles or leave water in them for long amounts of time. The enameled threading on one of my bottles has chipped all off. I'm assuming from use? Or it's a defect. For a product that's supposed to last forever it didn't even make it for me. Very disappointed. I have contacted Sigg and I'm currently awaiting to hear from them. Go with some other brand or glass, it's probably safer and less hassle!
Can't Take the Taste October 15, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
As a concept, the SIGG bottle is great. The design is nice, it's metal (not plastic), sturdy, with a solid "looped" top. But in practice, it's not all it's cracked up to be. I've owned mine for about a year now. At first I really liked it and although I could notice a "unique" smell and taste occasionally, as long as it never got even a little warm (don't even think about leaving it in the sun), the flavor was minor. Over time though, It's gotten to where I can barely stand to drink the water I put in even if it's only been in there for 30 minutes. My understanding is that SIGG bottles use a polycarbonate lining - This is what Nalgenes are made of! I believe they are exploring other lining options (after the brewhaha about BPEs), but I would recommend a simple stainless steel bottle over a SIGG. Not only are they about 25% of the price, but they won't have the flavor issues of these bottles. One final complaint. If you're switching from a Nalgene, you'll immediately notice that you if you don't twist the cap all 273 rotations it won't be fully closed and will leak. Unlike the 3/4 twist of a Nalgene. Clearly I don't love mine. But they are stylish.
