2 out of 5 stars don't waste your $   January 8, 2009
VERY cheaply built. It broke no more than 1 minute out of the box (tripod). The optics are horrible. Don't count on seeing any planets with it. About the only thing you will recognize is the moon. The finder scope is a worthless decoration. Spend a little more $ and get something else.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, Simple and easy, But really Great   January 7, 2009
I ordered it for a friend son, we were expecting just a toy, but its really great, easy to handle, simple to assemble. Lots of hour for fun.

2 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for!   January 7, 2009
I thought with an aluminum body and a glass lenses I would get at a good telescope for looking at the moon and some bright stars. What I got was that, but it is so flimsy that you loose sight of the object when you try to focus because it shakes so much. My son accidentally closed the screen door -not hard- on the telescope breaking the focusing knob. If the knob was not cheep plastic I'm sure it would have survived. I like my binoculars better!

5 out of 5 stars Great Xmas Gift   January 6, 2009
My 9 year old loved this gift. We have the telescope set up in the dining room looking out the window just so he can look out every night.

Vivitar Telescope with Tripod
Ordered this item for my great grandson. This product is a toy!!
Not sure where the original price came from, but it is a joke. I found
the very same telescope, in a local store for $20.00, and $20.00 is the
orgianal store price not a sale price. My great grandson loves the telescope, however I paid twice what it was worth and to have it shipped. Also the way it was shipped was pretty bad.
